As photographers we have a higher sense of imagination and what that allows us to do is see images before they even happen. Seeing things in the future that could actually happen, that’s having vision.
Now when I talk about having vision im not talking about things that could happen tomorrow, next week or even a month from now. Im talking about 4 years from now, what are you going to become or what are you going to achieve in the next 4 years. Having vision is what keeps me going and what drives me.
You have got to live in the forward, forget about the past or even things that are happening in your life right now. Take some time to really think about what it is you really want to achieve, you see the problem most people have is that they are living in the future but they are still talking about the present and the past.
You need to go into your future every single day, your imagination and vision has to take you to that next level, you need to see yourself there, see yourself living that life and see yourself achieving those goals you have set.
There were many days I personally wanted to give up, give in to the pressure but I had to keep telling myself, keep seeing, keep imagining, keep driving, keep motivating myself, I had to keep seeing what I am now and what I was going to become. And trust me when I say this, pushing through everything when nothing around you is succeeding is the best thing for your personal development you could ever do!
One thing I have learnt over the years is you will never reach or achieve your goals if you don’t use your imagination and have vision. And don’t get me wrong, there will be things to overcome, obstacles to get past, opportunities you will miss and things you will fail at. It’s those who persevere and have faith that achieve greatness. Think about this, no person who has achieved greatness has done it without overcoming problems!
The first step in having the right mindset is believing in your vision, forget about how hard you think it is, forget about any negative aspects and most of all forget about others saying it cant be done because if you really believe it can be done, you are already halfway there!
You are where you are because of who you are, and who you are is a sum total of the vision you had for your life!
6 years ago when I first started out in photography I made myself a promise, that I would do what ever it takes no matter the circumstances to achieve my vision I had for myself. I wanted to photograph wildlife full time and travel the world shooting things I wanted to, rather then letting money dictate the direction of my lens. My dedication to my vision has brought me to this point!
What I am today is a product of my imagination and it all started with a vision!
